"The past is what happened. History is just what somebody decided to write down."
Have you ever thought about the truth of these statements? If you control the present, then you control what people are taught about the past. You can even make up stuff that ever happened, and pass it off as truth. Maybe sometime in the future, the government will deny the Civil War. The war will not be taught to anybody, and it will soon be forgotten.
If you control what people are taught about the past, then you control what people will do in the future. If you teach people that bad things happened in the past because somebody decided to randomly invade a nation, then people will not randomly invade nations in the future. If you teach people that good things have comes from lying and cheating, then people will lie and cheat.
"History is just what somebody chose to write down." Isn't that the truth? How do we know that what we are taught about the Civil War, or anything else, for that matter, is the truth? How do we know that it is the whole truth? We don't. All we have is what somebody decided to write down, be it true or untrue.
In summary: The government controls all. They control the present, so they control the past. They control the past, so they control the future. But they are not in absolute control. God is in control of them. And that is a very comforting thought.

True enough...But Christians were persecuted, even today. And yet, the truth still lives on! Christ is the ultimate victor, and history is decided by him. I agree, he is in control. No matter what happens on this earth. Nice post!

Have you ever wondered what obscure things our government was doing during WWII that we never heard about? We heard about all (most) of the Nazi's programs, but we never learned about any obscure programs the US was conducting. (Except the Manhatten Project, but we only learned about because it was used).
In a way though, it might be good that we don't know about what the government is doing. After all, the atomic bomb saved millions of lives in WWII, yet if everybody had been aware of its existence before it was used, then those millions of lives might have been lost.

And I've thought about that before...about peoples controlling what people today think about people yesterday...very intriguing.
PRAISE THE LORD HE HAS CONTROL!!!!!!!!!! I often must fall back on that assuring truth- glory be to God forever and ever!
Hmmm...atomic bomb...I had a report on that...did I do it? Hmmm...my thoughts are engaged...hmm...
