Be Prepared! That is a motto I learned in Girl Scouts a number of years ago. We are also commanded to Be Prepared in Scripture.
In Mark 13, we read (from Biblegateway, com), “
32"No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. 33Be on guard! Be alert! You do not know when that time will come. 34It's like a man going away: He leaves his house and puts his servants in charge, each with his assigned task, and tells the one at the door to keep watch.
35"Therefore keep watch because you do not know when the owner of the house will come back—whether in the evening, or at midnight, or when the rooster crows, or at dawn. 36If he comes suddenly, do not let him find you sleeping. 37What I say to you, I say to everyone: 'Watch!' "
Pastors preach that these passages direct us to be prepared for Christ’s second coming and judgment day. Are you ready for when Christ comes again? For we neither know the time nor day when He will come. Or is there some last minute preparations that you still need to make? Don’t wait too long or it may be too late!
I wonder if those who were killed at Virginia Tech were prepared, especially spiritually. The media probably won’t report how many are baptized children of God. They focus on points and stories meant to draw in viewers. However, whether or not people are baptized is a life or death question, just as the types of injuries and amount of blood lost.
The time is fleeting, my friend, but if you are not baptized or you know of someone who hasn’t endured this life saving experience, there is still hope. Run to your nearest pastor who can answer your questions and provide the life saving washing of water and the Word. Take your unbaptized friends and let them know about the hope that is within you.
Amid the talk of loved ones being in a “better place,” make sure you have no doubt that you and your loved ones will be in the best place->
Paradise
with Christ our Lord. For the time is a fleeting and we never know the time nor the place of our death, but as baptized children of God it is not an eternal death, but only last a fleeting moment. Our eternity will be with Christ in
Paradise
. Be prepared as it could make the difference between eternal life or eternal death!
