Bloghardt's Reflector

“If now I seek the forgiveness of sins, I do not run to the cross, for I will not find it given there… But I will find in the sacrament or Gospel the word which distributes, presents, offers, and gives to me that forgiveness which was won on the Cross.” (AE 40, 214)

Why I have doubts about American Politics...

Posted At: 4:13pm by Bloghardt

I don't normally talk about politics, but maybe we should sometimes discuss these things.  Has anyone been watching what's going on Minnesota?  Talk about comical!  Al Franken and Senator Norm Coleman are deadlocked in a recount.  Yes, as shocking as it is, Al Franken (pictured in a diaper to the right) was five-hundred and fifty votes away from being elected to the U.S. Senate!

Then, during the time before the recount had begun, votes started "materializing."  Then, what started as a five hundred plus lead out of 2.9 million votes, became two hundred.  Now, before the state recount has even begun, Al Franken is going to congress.

Either he is an idiot or he knows something we don't.  I think he knows that two-hundred and fifty more votes are going to appear.

I'm from Louisiana where dead people not only vote, they vote often!  This stuff in Minnesota is yet another reason to be just a tad bit skeptical about politics and the process in which we elect our leaders.

Re: Why I have doubts about American Politics...

Howdy-

Asking if I've been following this and my reply is Yeah, sure ya betcha! This isn't the first time Minnesnowtah politics has been in the news. 10 years ago, the former pro wrestler Jesse Ventura became governor as an independent. Then 4 years ago the first Muslim was elected to Congress, Mr Ellison. Even a Lutheran (gasp) has made the news as Congresswoman Michelle Bachman (who's membership is WELS) said some taboo words about her opponent. She also was caught in the crosshairs 4 years ago by Catholics.

That said and getting back to your point, I'm far less skeptical about politics in MN, than other places as you give in your example. In IL corruption and the political machine run the state. That is more concerning. Perhaps others will write about politics in their state.
