Bloghardt's Reflector

“If now I seek the forgiveness of sins, I do not run to the cross, for I will not find it given there… But I will find in the sacrament or Gospel the word which distributes, presents, offers, and gives to me that forgiveness which was won on the Cross.” (AE 40, 214)

Bloghardt's Directory & Circus

Posted At: 9:02pm by Bloghardt

We are getting to another problem at the root of the situation going on with the Lutheran Carnival. It's a great idea, but no one wants to do the actual hard work to make it truly great.

Elle, one of the great people at the Lutheran Carnival, just posted on "Bloghardt's Carnival" asking me to do her work for her. I have tons of "confirming" I already get to do - for my congregation and for HT.

Speaking of Higher Things: What if Rev. Todd Peperkorn, Rev. Marcus Zill, and Rev. Dan Woodring said to one another, "This Higher Things idea is great, who can we get to do it for us?" HT would be like Zill's Blog (161 days and counting - SMILE). Thank God they didn't! It takes hard work, sweat, and tears to turn good ideas into great things. It takes tons of work to turn an idea into "Higher Things." (smile)

But the Lutheran Carnival wants me to do their work for them? I guess I did kinda apply when my last post referenced seven different blogs (smile).  But, if lil old me, with all the work I have, can do a post referencing seven blogs, just think of all that you can do with the Carnival!

Right now, the Lutheran Carnival remains "Powered By Ego!"  Can't you just see it?   A button on the bottom of the carnival saying "Lutheran Carnival remains Powered By Ego"  Bloggers submit their own articles; write their own descriptions, so that they can attempt to increase web traffic.

That's comical (giant smile). "Powered by Ego." That sounds better than "Powered-by-Someone-Else's Hard Work." (smile)

I'm poking fun. It's a good idea. It can be a great idea. Work and make it so!

Re: Bloghardt's Directory & Circus

One of the wonderful aspects to a carnival is that it travels. It gives other bloggers the opportunity to host it. It is not an oddity in the blog carnival world to have a different host each week. This is a common occurrance.

I am more than willing to do the work I set out for myself when designing the Lutheran Carnival. The work I'm not willing to do is your version of a carnival. Please don't misrepresent what I said. You see, Pastor, I too am a person with a life, work and family that trump blogging and like you, I know my limits and am not willing to neglect any of them for a carnival. Nevertheless, the offer still stands. If you'd like to host (your way or ours, it doesn't matter), you're welcome to.

Re: Bloghardt's Directory & Circus

Elle, I'm glad you're familiar with blogs and carnivals and how things work on the net. Then you should also not be surprised that when you put your ideas out on the net for public comment and critique, sometimes that's exactly what you get.

Re: Bloghardt's Directory & Circus

Especially when your ideas percolate into this group! Remember the shark support group in "Finding Nemo"?
