Bloghardt's Reflector
“If now I seek the forgiveness of sins, I
do not run to the cross, for I will not find it given there… But I will find in
the sacrament or Gospel the word which distributes, presents, offers, and gives
to me that forgiveness which was won on the Cross.” (AE 40, 214)
Video & the Internet

So, during the NLCS, my DVR was only able to record one show other than the live programming. So, since my wife doesn't like Grey's Anatomy, it wasn't recorded. I had to choose the Mets of Grey's. It's was easy...
Did you know you can watch missed Grey's and other ABC shows online with the Flash Media Player? The quality is surprisingly good. Seriously, I remember when VCRs came out. My parents had this VCR that had a remote with a CORD! Does anyone remember when cds came out? DVDs and Laser Discs?
Now, if you miss a show, you can digitially record it! If you don't do that, you can watch your favorite shows online! The quality is probably better than the old analog televisions! Isn't technology cool?
But, it all comes with a price! We get to hear about all the stuff that is going to kill us! Cellphone radiation is destroying my brain cells! My diet coke is making me forget things! If that isn't bad enough, a recent Canadian study showed that the demand for games and video on the Internet would push the Internet to its limits! My watching Greys' online could destroy the very framework of the internet!
Who shall save us from... ourselves? We even get to even remember our baptisms as we click, click, click! Lord, save us!

You know, I never could understand paying money to watch something that is "free" to watch on your TV.

ahh the trip down memory lane...
Yes I remember the corded vcr with remote. My grandma had one and it only had one button: pause.
Now to show our age, do you remember 8 track tapes? My grandpa had one in his old farm pickup and only 2-3 tapes of hit artists like Debby Boone or Smokey Robinson.
Do you guys remember when and where you first learned or used an internet browser and email? Now look how popular it is! Who would've thunk about blogs then?! ;)
With cell phone address books, how many numbers do you remember off the top of your head (without peeking)? Pr. B is right, we are dependent on external memory stores and our own internal memory gets a bit rusty. I'm sure the pastors can attest to this better than I, but as folks get older they still remember the liturgy and hymns even as diseases ravage their minds such as Alzheimer's or dementia. Hopefully we will do the same and not forget the really important stuff, like our salvation in Jesus Christ amid the hustle bustle of our lives and technology driven world. It is refreshing to relax and just receive in the Divine Service.

I missed the first episode of the new season of BSG on SciFi. I was able to download it on iTunes and watch it for 1.99$ To be honest, Apple's iTunes video isnt quite where it should be, to enjoy watching TV programs on your computer.
