Who will it be: Harry or Charlie? Quite frankly, I think both. I'm planning (in less than 24 hours, mind you) on going to see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory in the evening before going to buy Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince at midnight (after going to a slammin' nerdy release party at Barnes and Noble!).
Now the new Charlie is a Tim Burton/Johnny Depp collaboration. Mr. Burton is responsible for one of my favorite movies, The Nightmare Before Christmas. Johnny is responsible movies like Pirates of the Caribbean and Edward Scissorhands, as well as being very dipable (in chocolate that it... does anyone else see the irony that someone so dipable is working in a chocolate factory?). I predict good things for this movie.
And as for HBP: I admit I was not a fan of reading ever in my life and was convicted to only watch the HP movies and not become and obsessive compulsive HP book nerd. I failed. It started when I could not go to see the last movie when it was released because of bad weather. I was so mad that I picked up the book out of spite... and read four of the books over the rest of the summer. Since then, I have been baying at the bit to get my hands on new material! And tomorrow it happens! So the 16+ hour bus ride to STL won't be so boring (thought the ride home...).
So, now that you know my vice, I can't pick. Charlie will be great and hopefully have a long ride in theatres. HBP will be on my bookshelf infinitely, so he will be great too. Can't wait for STL!!!

I REALLY want to see Charlie - I've been dying to see it since I heard Tim Burton was doing the remake. Have you ever read the book? It's quite dark, but then the book usually is a lot darker (Wizard of Oz, Alice in Wonderland, Brothers Grimm...).
I can't wait to see Depp (dark,dark chocolate, btw) as Wonka. He's such a versatile actor. I remember seeing an interview on Letterman with him a couple years ago and he was talking about how fun it was to be a dad and to have toddlers - they're like miniature drunks. Think about it. They run around like idiots, laughing at the stupidest things, have some of the strangest thoughts...
For some reason, I liked him a lot more after that. I think I feel a Depp Movie Marathon coming on soon.

Girls are so weird... (That's my profound statement of the day.)
In any case, I don't think Charlie looks very good, though that may be because I'm biased toward the old movie...and I still think Depp looks too much like Michael Jackson in this movie, and in the context of the movie, that just seems wrong.
As for Harry Potter - I can't wait! As soon as I get back from the gathering, I will so be getting that book. I am so addicted...

Nathan, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was one of the funniest movies i have ever seen (and I own a copy of Monty Python and the Holy Grail). Despite the eerie reseblance to MJ , and the disturbing comments made by some of my friends, the movie was great!
And I have the same sentiments as my sister, HBP will make the bu ride much easier to DTBL.

yep, i bought a book lamp, and as we speak im making a mix cd, of slower songs (i can only read with slow music) for the trip's... i should be finished by the time we get home!
