Props to the Purple People!!!

They helped with registration. They helped videotape the plenary sessions. They carted the crew's stuff everywhere. They endured being called "Mullet Heads" by yours truly. They helped out at all the sectionals, passed out evaluations and did just about a little bit of everything to help make the conference run smooth.

And they even had the time and strength to move this rock and balance it on the top of all the other rocks at the Garden of the Gods! Now only Purple People could do that!

The Christ on Campus Student Volunteer program is a wonderful opportunity for college students to have a chance to come to a conference at a reduced rate, play a major part in the behind the scenes work that makes our conferences what they are, and make lasting friendships.
We had Christ on Campus Student Volunteers in 2003 (Arlington) and 2004 (Seattle) but took a year off from the program last summer (St. Louis). This year's Purple People demonstrated to Higher Things Nation why we won't ever do so again.

So look out next year as we will have twice the number of Christ on Campus Student Volunteers!

Thanks gang! You were simply the best! Props to the Purple People!

Somehow we at Team Feast ended up with about 100-150 leftover large tan conference shirts. Sorry but no purple ones and yes, they are all large size. We sold quite a few at the end of the conference, but we still have many left. One of my deacons (and a college student volunteer at The Feast, Brian Pierson) and I would like to see you have the extras instead of us.

So if you would like to get a few extras for yourself, others you know, or people who couldn't make it to the Feast we will be selling them until August 31 or as long as supplies last.

To see pictures of the shirts:
http://blog.higherthings.org/hthings/files/Feast_ShirtFront.jpg
http://blog.higherthings.org/hthings/files/Feast_ShirtBack.jpg

The prices are as follows (these prices include shipping):

1 for $8
2 for $14
3 for $18

Or you can get bigger quantities for even less:

6 for $30
10 for $40

Want a different quantity or have questions? Simply e-mail us at thefeast@higherthings.org.

Again, this sale on Large Tan Feast Conference Shirts is good until August 31 or as long as supplies last.

Please make checks payable to "Higher Things" and send to:

The Feast - T-Shirt Sale
1309 Grand Ave.
Laramie, WY 82070

Make sure you let us know where you want them mailed and we'll be happy to accommodate you.

Thanks,

Pastor Zill, The Feast
2006 Conference Coordinator

HT- U Campus Ministry - Just Add Water

<preview>
Our look at the HT-U Sectionals at The Feast concludes with a short
examination of "HT-U: Campus Ministry - Just Add Water"

Do you have a college near you? Would you like to learn how to
begin a campus ministry outreach at a local college(s) on a shoestring
budget?
</preview>

Get some help getting started from a panel of campus pastors that
represent several different types of campus ministry models: full-time,
part-time, and
a contact congregation. This sectional is designed to be
tailored to your specific campus situation and provide practical help and
support.

Learn from Rev. Marcus Zill (University of Wyoming, Rev. David Kind
(University of Minnesota - Twin Cities) and Rev. Derek Roberts (University
of
Tennessee), and Rev. Rob Jarvis (University of Minnesota-Morris).

So join the Christ on Campus Team and not only get some great advice,
but learn about how Chris ton Campus can help you as you seek to gift the
college
students that you have the opportunity to serve.

Arriving at The Feast

Dear everyone,

Now that you have a good idea what your housing situation is going to be like you are perhaps wondering how you are supposed to get where you are going once you get out to Colorado Springs.

Well, here you go:
http://higherthings.org/files/Feast_Arrival.pdf

I suggest you print off this document and keep it with your stack of stuff (like such things as those medical release forms)

This is your "everything you need to know about how to get to where you register, what you will get when you register, and what you do if all sorts of other stuff happens that you haven't thought through yet and you don't quite make it on time in order to register" document.

Blessings on your travel preparations!

Fraternally in Christ,

Final Schedule for The Feast

Dear everyone,

As you make your final preparations, I wanted to make sure you had a chance to see the absolute final schedule. This is so final that it's directly out of the absolutely stunning conference handbook itself:

http://higherthings.org/files/Feast_Schedule.pdf

This year in addition to having the schedule in the handbook (did I mention it was stunning? :-), we are also going to provide a mini-sized schedule that you can fold and keep in the pocketed lanyards that will be provided to everyone by Colorado College.

In the past I've been tempted myself to just rip the schedule out of the handbook so I didn't always have to have my handbook with me. Well, not only would you obviously not want to do that (did I mention that these handbooks are very nice? :-), but you won't have to either.

Enjoy.

Fraternally in Christ,

Rev. Marcus Zill, The Feast
Conference Coordinator

Housing Information in the Chutes!

Dear everyone,

The long-awaited housing information for each group's assigned residential
area is complete. This information is being sent off-list to each group's
primary contact leader. This is now possible because all of the housing
assignments are complete.

In general, no sleeping bags are needed! Whether you are at either place,
linens, towels, pillows, blankets, etc will be provided.

Group leaders, when you receive these informational sheets please feel free
to pass them along to your group via e-mail, or copy and reproduce as necessary.
They will not be posted online.

Also, please note that each registrants' exact room location will be given at
the time of registration.

Thank you for your patience. This was a huge logistical task made even more
complex by our utilization of two locations and the fact that we have tried to
cram as many in as possible due to the overwhelming interest in The Feast.

I trust that the housing information sheets you will receive off list will
more than adequately give you the information that you need to know what your
residential environs will be like so that you can pack accordingly.

Sincerely in Christ,

Pastor Zill

P.S. I would like to publicly thank my faithful friend, part-time secretary
and right hand thinker in the office, Cheryl Hubenthal, who has spent a
tremendous amount of time and energy to map out everyone's housing assignments
at the last second and with great expense (a quote for you Monty Python folk!
Yes, we are quite loopy at Higher Things Housing Central!

<grin> Seriously, Cheryl was given a mind boggling number of variables
and logistical considerations to deal with and has pretty much devoted her life
to this task over the last month. Like all of my team members, she exemplifies
what Higher Things is all about. Please thank her and all the Team members when
you meet them in Colorado. But for now let me say "Thanks, Cheryl!" I
wouldn't trade you for anyone! You are simply the best! And yes, I remember that
you like chocolate! :-)

Cancellations, Substitutions, Changes...

<preview>
Dear everyone,

We are pleased to say that we are nearing completion of the housing assignments for The Feast.

Along the way we have received a few notes about various changes, substitutions, and cancellations. We are glad to help make these changes and we realize that this will still be a necessity to a degree down the stretch.

However, we hope that after July 1st any changes will be truly rare and exceptional.
</preview>

We, in Housing Coordination and Registration, need to have everything virtually "set in concrete" at some point so that we may work with Colorado College and the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs for nametags, dorm assignments, etc.

That "set in concrete" point will be this coming Saturday, July 1st. After that date making changes will be extremely difficult. Please help us out by letting us know of any such changes that need to be made by you or your group ASAP.

Please also know that it is still not too late for us to let another group or two in if we know of any cancellations in advance. So even if we aren't able to give you a refund, the sooner you let us know about a cancellation, the greater the chance there is for someone else to still come to The Feast!

Thank you very much for understanding our need in this regard and taking it seriously. The bottom line is that this information simply needs to be nailed
down, and July 1st is the "nailing down" date. Anything you can do to help us reach some finality will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Cheryl Hubenthal (Housing Coordinator)
As always, our life in worship together is the highlight of our conferences. The Feast promises to be no different!

On behalf of our worship committee, and especially Dr. Richard Stuckwisch, our worship chaplain, we are pleased to pass on to you an advance copy of a Liturgical Catechism that will be included in the service booklet at The Feast.

We thought that many of you might like to take the time to read it beforehand. Please feel free to share this with others as it is helpful.

You can download it at:
