My Brother-in-Law (happy belated anniversary you two!) posted and interesting article over at his blog. Apparently, before Thomas Edison invented the light bulb in 1880, people slept an average of 10 hours a night. These days, Americans average 6.9 hours of sleep on weeknights and 7.5 hours a night on weekends.
Some of our conference staff especially should probably read this and then get some sleep!
Go check it out at Jeff's Hubris.

I'm convinced that sedatives are the only way we're going to get the conference staff to sleep.

Naw! Just take away their Diet Coke! Then you'd have unhappy staff So choose your poison wisely Some of us can survive on less than 4 hours of sleep (at least for a short time)

Taking away their Diet Coke would be cruel. Hence, the sedatives. Although I'm not saying that they wouldn't be better off in the long run without the Diet Coke...
