Famous?

Posted At: 2:34pm by Jon Kohlmeier
It seems that spending two weeks at CTS in Fort Wayne makes you famous. If you see pictures from Christ Academy chances are I am in them. I was mentioned in my church's monthly newsletter. I even recently made it into the South Wisconsin District news Picture and all. http://swd.lcms.org/PDF/SWDN/SWN2006-09.pdf (found on back page)

The only thing is... I think they need a better picture. My hair looks kinda crazy from the wind...

The Last Week

Posted At: 7:58pm by Jon Kohlmeier

For a high-school student such as myself summer-time means Libertatum (freedom). This Last summer before I graduate has been full of freedoms. Freedom to go to bed and wake up when I want to. The Freedom to hang out with friends, talking watching movies or playing video games. Freedom to spend as much time as I want on the computer.

This next year as a Senior, I will have more freedoms as a student. I have more freedom in selecting classes I want to take. The freedom of early release when I have 8th hour study hall. All this leads up to graduation. Graduation is only another beginning leading to more and more freedom.

During the school year I will undoubtedly look forward to the weekends. The weekends are like “little summers.” They bring back some of those freedoms, such as going to bed late and waking up whenever I want to.

I will look forward to weekends for another reason too. That other reason is the Divine Service! Where I am reminded of the greatest freedom I have. My Freedom in the Gospel. All those other freedoms do not even come close to that freedom.

I am going to enjoy my last week of freedom from school but each week I am reminded of another week. That week in which my Freedom from sin was achieved by Christ Jesus' death and resurrection!

Not A Tame Lion

Posted At: 12:54am by Jon Kohlmeier

From the title of this post most of you could probably guess what its about. A couple days ago I bought The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe on DVD. It is quickly becomming my favorite movie. I read the books regularly. Everytime you read the books you can get something new out of them. Athiests can even appreciate them as great fiction. With our Christian background it is easy for us to see a lot of the symbolism between The Chronicles and The Bible or Church history.

I have been able to get some of the same things out of the movie. Then there are some things that are more apparent in the book then in the movie. As I watch the movie more I can think of things i never thought of while reading the books. One part I particularly like in the movie is the battle between Peter and The White Witch. Clearly Peter cannot defeat the White Witch by himself, but then Aslan comes and "crushes her head."

I would Reccommend that if you havent seen the movie yet that you do. It is a great movie. It stays very close to the book and it is amazing as far as movies go. Everything from the beautiful locations they chose to film it, to Aslan both his appearance and personality (for lack of a better word).

"Once a King or Queen of Narnia, always a King or Queen!"
