Lovin' Loveland

I LOVE this town. When I came here to visit after receiving the offer to be Mt. Olive's new Christian Education and Youth Director, I saw the still-under-construction storefronts for Panera and Chipotle, two of my favorite lunchtime spots. Panera opened a couple of weeks ago, and TODAY was the big day for Chipotle. I LOOOOVE Chipotle - chicken burrito with black beans, corn AND hot salsa, sour cream, cheese, and guacamole. YUM!

So I was driving through old downtown Loveland yesterday to pick up a birthday present for my dad (Happy Birthday, Dad!). One of our members is a professional glass-blower and has a studio here. How cool is that? Anyway, I couldn't help but notice some of the funny juxtapositions of the downtown stores. Some buildings are split front to back and house multiple stores inside. Here are a few of the best combinations...

Incidentally, the "granola and guns" building is directly across the street from another gun store that sells military surplus gear, which is next door to a maternity clothing boutique.

Two "churches" on opposite corners of the same intersection...

Reminds me of an interesting one I saw here in Indiana a few months ago: An LCMS church that was renting its meeting hall out to a gun show (yes, the hall is attached to the sanctuary)! It was made complete by the gun show banners hanging on the church sign outside by the highway.

Madre,

I lived in Colorado in the early 80s. Learned how to ski, but unfortunately never made it to Loveland. If you ever had the desire to learn how to ski or if you already know how, you will love Loveland. In fact, you will get spoiled by the Colorado mountains and anywhere else you ski will pale by comparison.
