I've been a bad bad Madre, not posting for two full weeks. Wow. I
hadn't realized it had been so long.
But I have a good excuse. I've been moving.
It's amazing the stuff a person can accumulate in a relatively short period
of time. To go from a couple of suitcases to boxes upon boxes of things to
sort through and pack up...wow. It certainly has made me stop and reflect
on the past couple of years (more on that likely to come in a few weeks).
My brother and I are extremely grateful to family and friends who have helped us
out and given us various hand-me-downs so that we could set up a halfway decent,
functioning household. My parents have been an immeasurable gift in
providing daycare for my son while I have gone back to work part-time, as has my
brother when my hours go late into the night and "He laughs" needs to
be put to bed. Speaking of my son, he has grown from a mere whirlwind of
18 months to a potty-trained, big-bed-sleeping, pre-school-attending,
chocolate-tornado big boy. We have a new feline member of our little family as of
last June. I even have my own car.
(And who woulda thunk that I would ever play fantasy football - much less kick the entire league's patooties in the first week?? Let the trash-talk begin!)
I never thought I could live "on my own" like this, or would have
to. But it sure is good to know that my Father has cared and provided for
me and brought me to this day. Even in the bad days (and oh there have
been bad ones), He has graciously continued to remind me through my pastors and
good friends that despite my faithless perception that life stinks and nothing
goes my way, I can trust that all these things that happen in my life are gifts for my good from Him because
I am baptized.
