I had to take my son to the doctor today (not a huge deal, just an upper
respiratory infection - just enough to make a kid miserable). It's a
Christian clinic, which is kind of nice. They have Bibles in all the exam
rooms, all the doctors there have served as missionaries, and continue to take
trips now and then. The nurses and doctors ask for prayer requests and
will pray with you. They also have a lot of cheesy Christian materials to
read.
The Minnesota Christian Chronicle had a big page 1 (above the fold) article
on the Revolve tour coming through the area. The subtitle read,
"Women of Faith created new teen girl conference". Needless to
say, I was curious. So I read it.
"After a decade of conferences and reaching out and into the hearts of
women devoted to Christian life, Women of Faith (WOF) is addressing a new
audience: their daughters."
On and on it goes, and the closest the article ever comes to mentioning Jesus
is to use the word "Christian" to refer to musicians (Christian
artist, So and So...) performing and giving testimonial speeches, building
Christian friendships (whatever those are).
Hoping for more information, or at least some indication of this conference
mentioning Jesus, etc. I went to their website www.revolvetour.com.
Well, let's just say...I'll give a can of pop to anyone who can find Jesus
mentioned twice on the website.
What is the deal with things like this? Are these conferences as big
elsewhere as they are among the Methobapticostal types I encounter here?
Has anyone actually been to one?
