Madre's Missives

Inadvertent and Occasionally Intentional Thoughts

Reverend Mother

Posted On: July 24th, 2005 at 10:09 am

I knew Higher Things was on the bleeding edge of Lutheran youth ministery and does not shy away from controversy. But I was blown away to see that not only was Higher Things involving an ordained woman in their endeavors, but that IT WAS ME!

In an irony beyond ironies, I was somehow accidentally listed in the conference booklet acknowledgements with the title "Rev." in front of my name.

Whoops!

For some reason that still didn't get me extra access to behind-the-scenes chapel stuff. But one pastor offered to let me write his sermon for one of the services... Blogger Smiley

I passed.

That's funny....way too funny. I would almost wonder if it was done on purpose. :)

The conference committee chair and other powers that be were all quite surprised (and most bust a gut laughing). I think it was just a cut and paste job that was done a little hastily. :)

It wasn't on purpose. I almost wish it had been, both because it would have been wickedly clever and because it would mean we weren't just sloppy.

So pretend to be wickedly clever, and wink at each other over the children's heads... I won't tell... Blogger Smiley

And I had worked so hard winning that argument so you wouldn't get ordained...........

Easily the best typo I've seen in years! Trouble is, you're probably now on three call lists in my district.

Cool! From what I've heard, I could already be preaching and administering sacraments if one pastor says I can be a "deaconess" at his congregation. California, here I come!

Not. ;)
