I'm
not sure quite what to think about this
one from the Baptists. Once upon a time, colleges and universities
everywhere offered Home Ec degrees. There doesn't seem to be much
practical value to an undergraduate degree in home economics anymore. I
suppose it's not such a surprise they're actually kind of difficult to find now,
given our culture's attitudes toward homemaking these days.
Is this a way to make sure the pastor's wife is the Queen of the Kitchen Ladies at whatever church he serves and always brings the best hotdishes to the potlucks? Is there a parallel to be drawn between our seminaries for pastoral training and the deaconess program?
I'm intrigued by this. There are things I agree with (in principle at least), and others that just rub me the wrong way. What about the rest of you?
