Madre's Missives

I hate Halloween.  People put WAY too much effort into celebrating this stupid holiday.  And there's little that ticks off Madre more than teenagers ringing my doorbell and begging for candy just because they CAN on this one night of the year.  It's cute and fun to see the little munchkins dressed up and going from door to door.  But teenagers...uh uh.  Don't come grubbin' at my door expecting a sugary handout.  It's  not cute and buying enough candy to hand it out to all those greedy adolescent beggars is REALLY expensive.  I've got better things to spend my money on.  Like putting food on my table and gas in my car.  Go mow a lawn, babysit my kid while I work, get a job, or get your own parents to go to the store and buy you a few bags of candy if you want it so badly.

My cousin, Hannah, is a tennis player.  A REALLY good one too.  The Minneapolis StarTribune ran an article about her in today's paper.

Apparently it's newsworthy stuff when a teenager puts her faith in Jesus and being a good student as a higher priority than sports.

Is it possible?  Nestle and Coke, in a joint effort, are soon to be releasing a new beverage, a "sparkling green tea" that not only contains caffeine and calcium but BURNS calories.

Helga and Rupert are the couple that's been dating for 2 years, really cute, the kind that make you gag when you see them...you know the type I'm talking about. Yesterday she came to my room, and we started talking about our nights... me telling her about Louis, and her laughing hysterically at me. But then she told me more about Rupert...
