Consider the Ravens

Posted At: 9:29pm by Rachel Engebretson

"Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds! Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest?" Luke 12:24-26

We recently received news that my grandpa's health is quickly failing, and he's not expected to live much longer. Death, while not an easy subject, is greatly relieved for the surviving by the assurance of faith. But what if this assurance is not there?

I've taken some time to think about it, and I've come to this conclusion: I must not worry about it. I pray, as this is in my control - But, it's up to God. The ball's always in his park.

If faith as small as a mustard seed can move mountains, and the criminal crucified next to Jesus can enter the kingdom of heaven with faith, how great of a chance every person on this earth, including my grandpa, has to be with Christ for all eternity!

We do not have the power to look into each other and know for certain that we have faith. Only Christ knows this, during every minute we live, the exact moment we die, and eternity afterwards. He's in control; he never stopped being in control.

"Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, trust also in me. In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am." John 14:1-3

Please, Lord, let there be a room for my grandpa, too.

EDIT: We just recieved news that my grandpa was baptized and made a member of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod! Praise the Lord! Blogger Smiley
