In the Name + of Jesus. Amen. “Judica. Vindicate me, O God.” You can't vindicate yourself before God. If the Lord were to judge you, on what basis would He act? Your good intentions? Your efforts? What about the sins of your heart and mind that are the black stains no one else can see? Have you truly feared, loved and trusted God? At all times? Do you love your neighbor as yourself? If you answer “yes,” you are vindicating yourself and that judgment will fail. If you answer “no,” then what hope is there for you?

He is the eternal Word, the eternal Word which declares that sinners have favor and forgiveness in His sight. That Word is before anyone ever spoke a word against Him or against you or you against someone else. That saving Word has always been around.

March 6, 2013 - Wednesday of Oculi

I believe in God, th e Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth. What does this mean? ... He defends me against all danger and guards and protects me from all ev il. This is most certainly true. (The Small Catechism: The Creed, First Article)

In the Name + of Jesus. Amen. “Invocabit. He will call upon Me.” And what shall we call Him? Or are you failing at fearing, loving and trusting in God. Do you love yourself the most? Do you only care about others for what they can give to you or do for you? Do you trust in God no matter what bad things happen?

February 13, 2013 - Ash Wednesday
