Yes, I know this is about 6 months too late... but I am still here! I've planned to post something just about every day since my last post--sometimes I would even start a post but find some excuse to abandon it (hopefully I will actually post this one )
Let's see...what have I been up to lately. My summer has gone by so fast (and now it's practically gone--along with the nice warm weather) Late July/late August Nick and I went through a childbirth education class where I learned some things that I really wish I hadn't. Ignorance is bliss. For instance, you are fully dialated at 10 cm while the baby's head is more like 14 cm or so. Now, seriously, that's just cruel to tell people before the delivery. I've also seen four births--and I mean eeeeeverything. However, if that wasn't enough I can request a mirror during my delivery. Once again I say ignorance is bliss ;0)
The first week of the class (it met for 5 weeks) there were a total of 7 couples and by the next week that was down to 3. One of the couples only made it through the first night and had their baby the next morning at 33 weeks (mom and baby are fine).
The last week, we took a tour of the maternity floor and in the NICU saw a baby that would have been 27 weeks gestation
Anyway, on to more pleasant subjects... Nick and I ended up being in South Bend 3 of the 4 weekends in August (and the 4th weekend my mom and little sister came to Cleveland for a baby shower. I have to say, I am glad to be done with 4 hour car trips for the time being.
So here I am, a little over 35 weeks along, and starting to get uncomfortable. I have at least a few contractions everyday--sometimes they'll get to be 10 minutes apart or so. Although, I have only had a few painful ones so far.
At times it feels like Saranita is trying to kick her way out of me While it can be a lot of fun to feel her move about, I don't think my hip bone will ever be the same
It's starting to feel like it's almost time. This week we're setting up the crib and changing table aand I start going to the doctor's every week. This is exciting but also a little scary (of course )
Anyway, that's my life for the moment. Talk of babies, babies, and more babies
