I was just now sitting at the table with my Mother sharing a pint of Edy's Cookie Dough Swirl ice cream, listening to Mom's favorite CD and preparing for a chemistry placement exam when we made the discovery of the century! (Well, ok, that may be a slight exaggeration)
When you drink a 12 oz glass of ice water your body burns 12.6 Calories to heat the water up to body temperature. Mom and I figured that is about how many calories are in half a bite of ice cream. BUT, just imagine how many calories you burn eating the ice cream! Your body has to heat the ice cream to your body temperature in order to digest it, plus chewing requires calories - not to mention moving your hand and arm to scoop the creamy confection out of the bowl (or cardboard container, as the case may be) onto the spoon and to your mouth!
Mom figures you would burn even more Calories if you are licking an ice cream cone - the tounge being the largest single muscle in the human body, and the larger the muscle the more calories it burns!
So - REJOICE all ye fans of delightful frozen confections! Eating Ice Cream burns calories!!!! (-:

hehehe... i don't feel so bad about that ice cream i at last night. and you know, if you eat ice cream with nuts (like my favorite - rocky road), you not only get more calories burned by chewing/digesting the nuts, but also, you get protien!
I praise God for ice cream right after asking forgiveness for eating so much.
Great Blog 1,2,&3! although you need cool shirts like the FemLems! and what's up with the pic of Rauol on the banner? the phantom is terribly hotter!

Oh I absolutely agree. Eating an ice cream cone is not only negative calories, but it's EXERCISE!
Rocky Road isn't bad. But it's no Tin Roof Sundae (another flavor with nuts - peanuts dipped in chocolate....)

My FAVE ice cream is Funky Pretzle Caramel Goldmine. Unfortunately I don't think they make it anymore... My fave after that would be from Cold Stone Creamery (THE BEST ice cream!!!!!!) - coffee ice cream with raspberries and Heath Bits. YUM!
Raoul is a bit of an inside joke.... he protects us from creepy stalkers and the like.
Madre, how ever did you manage to edit your post in December 1969????
