WWJD

Posted At: 11:45pm by TripletOne
I was reading Pride and Prejudice this afternoon (for the umpteenth time) when it suddenly hit me- the true version of WWJD, or, What Would Jane Do? Yes, I am talking about the ever-sweet Jane Bennet. Although, on second thought, it really should be WWJT (What Would Jane Think?).

Jane Bennet refuses to think ill of any person. Even when all the evidence is against them, there is obviously something they don't know about the situation.

At one point, everything points to Mr. Darcy to being an awful person, and yet, she cannot possibly think that he could have done the things that Mr. Whickham accuses him of doing (although, Mr. Whickham also could not be a liar). (He is a cad, of course Blogger Smiley but she would never say that).

Another point, her trust in her friends is shown to be misplaced, but instead of being mad at them, she feels some pity for them. Even though they stood between her eternal happiness (the guy she loves) and herself. Personally, I would be saying some other things Blogger Smiley Blogger Smiley

One side note, I'm sure her view is that there is always at least some good in everybody and they cannot possibly sin, etc etc. This, of course, is not true and I am not advocating it, but just the general idea to think the best of everybody even when they don't deserve it(and usually they don't) Blogger Smiley So, next time all the cards are down and you don't know what to think, think: WWJT Blogger Smiley Blogger Smiley

Re: WWJD

Great post sis! Blogger Smiley

I really need to re-read P&P, it is such a great book! I'm saving it for when I'm at college and in need of a good chick-flick book.

Wow, I had an... interesting thought there... a chick-flick BOOK. What does THAT mean.

Awesome CD! :D

Re: WWJD

Pride and Prejudice... I'm thinking "You've Got Mail".... ;o)

Re: WWJD

*cracks up*
I told my mother and she thought that, "What Would Jane Do?" referred to her. Tsktsk. ;oP

I personally would be more likely to think WWED, What Would Elizabeth Do (oh wait... I HAVE thought that before.) :o)

Re: WWJD

Bethany errs. : )

I didn't think it was me; I just had a flash of thought about what horribly scary things could be done if it were. : )

I'm not nearly so nice as Miss Jane Bennett.

Re: WWJD

But you're tons more fun than Miss Bennett, Jane.

And if it's a chick-flick book, how does one go about reeeeeeading it??? Hmmmmmm?

Re: WWJD

Hehe, I actually read the book because of that movie ;0) :0)

Yes, she is definitely more interesting and...well, I don't know... would you say she's a "modern woman"? I suppose in comparison to most of the women back then... the preview for the movie talks about how she's a "modern woman" (which I usually equate with "feminist")

I would have to agree with Rachel :0)

Eeewwwwww! I don't want to know! Don't even saaay such a thing ;0) (giggles) :0)

Re: WWJD

Oops, I meant for there to be quotes in there... I'll try it again...
