Missing HT

Okay, I'm going to try and start posting here again! My plan was to start writing at least once a week after my last post and here it is, what, 6 months later and not a peep! Two of the Triplets have gotten married since then and no post. One little side note, the triplets will have their anniversaries in the same week! DoRena and Sam got married on May 31; Nick and I had our 3rd anni on June 4; and Rachael and Michael got married on June 7! Back to news that was never posted on here...I never even said anything about being pregnant again and now I have just 9 weeks until little Susie should make her appearance.
So, here it is, the first year in a while that I haven't gone to a HT conference. For the most part I've been too involved in my own little life to even think about it. However, a few people from my church and and part of my family went so I couldn't completely ignore it, It was pretty weird seeing all the pictures on Facebook of people having fun--without me! ;0)
On the other hand, that kind of thing does not sound like fun to me at all anymore. My definition of fun mainly involves doing something that allows me to be home for a good part of the afternoon for Sita's naptime ;0) Then, maybe I can have a little time for myself (mostly to hurry and do whatever cleaning/ laundry that needs to be done) and Sita might even have an improvement in her attitude for the evening. Some days it's hard enough taking care of her just at the house--I can't imagine what she would be like at a conference all week long! Okay, actually I could imagine it but it sounds so energy draining at a time I don't have any energy to begin with.
This is not to say I don't like my time with my little baby (I mean my Big girl! ) because I do love every second of it. She is such a smart and amazing little girl (I mean Big girl). She is really talking---alot! and putting words together. For instance, if she wants to be carried down the stairs she'll reach out and say "I carry you". She also looves to look for something and say "where'd it go? Where's doggie? There he is!" And she'll name the names of everyone she knows (it's amusing to listen to her and see how her brain works in the way she'll say a name and it will remind her of another person and so on). She's really into swings and coloring and "Stoobi-doo-where are you?" and figuring out the whole potty thing. Anyway, I could go on for pages about her but will stop now before I bore people too much ;0)
Anyway, what was I saying? oh, yes, if I went to a conference I would end up being miserable and making everyone around miserable. I did have a dream during the first conference that I went and was able to go to all the sessions with an adorable girl quietly playing in my lap/ sleeping. Now that really is a dream! She is not capable of going anywhere without having at least one screaming fit that leaves me feeling like embarrassed and sorry for everyone around me. Either that or she gives people the "evil eye" and makes them feel like she hates them or something (which really isn't true...that's just what she does. I've been told that that's from her Greek side)
I guess I'll stop here. I was trying to come up with a better conclusion but between my brain that never works and the fact that it's probably close to 90 degrees in our computer room (and I really really need to get Sita up from her nap if I want her to sleep tonight) I am at a loss for words. So, until next time (which hopefully will be before another birth announcement is made)!

Thomas August Kavouras

Yesterday at 1:50 PM Thomas August Kavouras was finally born! He was born to my brother and sister-in-law, Theo and Danylle Kavouras. This is Saranita's fifth cousin from those two. He joins Lily, 10; Marina, 8 (two days ago); Theodore, 5(6 days ago) and Deano, 3. Yes, that right, over the course of 8 days that family now has Christmas and three birthdays!
Thomas August received his name from his beloved great-uncle Rev. Thomas August Tews who passed away last year. He weighed 7lbs 2oz and was 18 inches long. In the next couple of weeks, he will be baptized and Nick and I will have the great joy of being his Godparents.

There are some pictures of him on his Grandma's blog, http://presbytera.blogspot.com/

Just one of those days...

The other day, I tried to give Sita (who is almost 15 months now) a bath--tried is the key word So, I stick her in the tub and before she even sat down she pees all over herself :-/ After contemplating washing her in her own pee, I decide to get fresh water. Can anyone guess the first thing she did in the fresh water? You're right! She pooped! At this point the hot water wasn't working so I gave up on the bath.
I picked her up and plopped her on the floor and was about to wrap her in a towel when she took off toward the living room. Hmm, what would she do in there? First, she squatted and peed. I ran after her and she took off again. A few feet later, she squatted and pooped.
I bet you're thinking that by now she's done and cleaned out, but noooo. While I'm cleaning up the poop(which was pretty easy because our floors are wood), she goes a few more feet and poops again! At least after that I was able to tackle her and get a diaper on her
One bright side of all this is that I will be able to torture her with this story for ma long time. I almost feel sorry for any boy she would dare to bring home many, many moons from now.
Hmm...I can see the scene now...freaked out teenage boy nervously fidgeting on the couch. On his right, Sita's dad, grilling him while cleaning a shotgun. On his left, me, fitting every poop-factory story I can into the conversation.
"Oh, so you two are going out to eat? You know, when Saranita was little, eating made her poop. A lot."
"Yes, and after eating all this food are you bringing my baby straight back here or taking her somewhere else? Hint, if you take the second option, you're going to meet my little buddy here" Pats gun.

Joys of parenting

This morning, I was in our living room with Saranita who was supposed to be better from being sick a couple of days ago. She started gagging a little which I thought was just from the little piece of chocolate I had given her a minute ago...but...instead she starts spewing vomit all over my shirt. I just sit there, not sure what to do when...she throws up again. This time, though, I do something--stand up and let her throw up all over my shorts and the floor for the third time! She was finally done but not before causing us both to be completely drenched and dripping all over the place. Ahh, the joys of parenting! ;0) :0)

Saranita is growing up so fast! It's amazing how fast it's going-- 9 1/2 months and counting! She's currently crawling all over the yet to be fully childproofed house. She can also pull herself up and stand for a while. However, her favorite mode of transportation is sitting on her butt, pulling her feet in as much as she can and bouncing around the room. She also uses her feet to pivot herself around in a circle.
She loves reading (especially Moo, baa, lalala) listening to music (mostly good Lutheran hymns and the Bewitched theme song) and basically being the cutest baby ever (imnsho ;0) :0) ). She has a few "tricks" she loves to do for attention--waving, clapping, and sticking out her tongue. If she really feels like impressing people she will do all three at once! Sita also loves dogs (and will let them lick her face! ) and swimming (and will dunk herself in the water and not get scared--something she didn't get from my side ;0) ). However, I think her favorite thing to do is eat! She refuses to eat any of the baby food or rice cereal but will eat literally anything else I give her. At times it seems like she doesn't like the food I give her but if I offer any more she will still take it! While her six beautiful (and very dangerous) teeth help her eat everything, her main nutrition still comes in the form of breast milk.

So far, I think the hardest thing for me as a parent has been to not dwell on all the things that could happen to my Sita. There are days when all I want to do is hole up on a clean floor with her and not move so I don't have to worry about tripping and falling on her, dropping her, crashing in the car with her, sending her off with someone and never seeing her again (I think you get the picture ;0) ). What if I will have to grow old without my baby or she will have to grow up without her mommy. The Old Adam in me is very selfish and wants to cling to her as hard as I can--instead of clinging to the cross. Cling to the fact that (despite what Voldemort may think) death is by far the worst thing that could happen to my baby--or me! Because we were baptized into Christ we will one day be reunited again in heaven.
This can be such a relief! While it isn't an excuse to just ignore her and let her to continue to eat the bottom of my dirty sandals , it does mean I don't have to have the weight of every bad thing that could happen on my shoulders. I can just relax and enjoy every vomit-covered moment I have with my beautiful baby.

Bethany just recently made a very nice post on her blog. I've been thinking that this blog has needed some attention for quite some time, and rather than posting something myself I'm being lazy and sending you to her blog. Enjoy!
I guess it's my turn for some news, seeing as how I haven't updated in forever...

My boyfriend came to visit me on the 28th of December... and today, my fiance left to return home. Yes, that's right... I'm engaged! :o) We don't have a wedding date yet, but we're looking at the summer of 2008, shortly after we graduate. :o) The ring is Black Hills gold and is absolutely gorgeous. ;o)

Gerhardt Hezekiah Klement Ambrose Stuckwisch was born at 4:21 this afternoon! He is 8 lbs, 6 oz and 20 inches long, and absolutely beautiful!

Mom had to have a c-section because he was transverse (sideways) and the cord was around his neck, but everything went well and momma and baby are doing very well!

I can't figure out how to put up a picture, I'll try to see if I can figure it out on the HT forums or something. This little guy is more support for "babies" in the babies vs. kittens discussion. ;o)

Life and car accident

These past 7 weeks and 3 days have been pretty crazy! They've mostly consisted of nursing, playing, cuddling, trying to get some sleep now and then, and did I mention nursing? Saranita is such a beautiful and adorable little girl!
I've been meaning to blog for, oh, about 7 weeks now but every time I would start to type, I would get distracted by a fussy or hungry little girl

Thursday evening, Saranita and I went to a police awards dinner (Nick met us there after work). My father-in-law received a special Accommodation award! Afterwards, Saranita and I headed home to finally nurse and go to the bathroom. I was just starting to make a right turn into our driveway when a van tried to pass us on the right and rammed into us. It seems that they first crashed into the right rear (and bashed in the trunk) sending us spinning then ran into the right front seat door and pushed us into a tree. After the initial shock of what happened, the van backed up and took off again.
I quickly climbed into the back seat to check on my crying Saranita. Besides a few pieces of glass that had fallen on her from the front passenger's window, she seemed fine. My cell phone had ended up on the floor in the back seat (I had actually been on the phone with my mom when it all happened and my poor mom heard the crash and screaming then nothing) so I picked it up and called Nick's dad. I have found that if I need the Cleveland police, the fastest way to do this is to call him and have him radio the police for me. During this call, Nick got home and started to call the police on his cell phone. At this point, I did call my mom and let her know we were still alive.
5 minutes later, there were several police cars, an ambulance, and a fire truck blocking the street. I answered some questions for the police and we were taken to the ER to be checked out. The only thing that was bothering me was my neck so they put a collar on and strapped me to a back board. Nick's parents followed us and stayed with us the whole time at the ER.
Saranita was checked out and everything seemed fine (besides being really hungry). She ended up sucking on a pacifier until she fell asleep. It took a while before I was seen but the doctor finally cleared my back and took me off the backboard. My neck was still hurting so they decided to take some X-rays. However, I was able to nurse Saranita (it had been about 2 hours since the accident by then) and then make my way to the bathroom. Boy did I feel better after doing those two things!
The X-rays all turned out fine--once I remembered I had a barrette in my hair and took it out. Apparently it looked like I had swallowed one for a couple of the X-rays. My neck still hurt when they pressed on one of the bones so they gave me a neck brace that I'm supposed to wear for a week then go to a PM&R clinic to be cleared. We finally got home around 1 in the morning.
The next day, I was expecting to be very sore but besides my neck and left shoulder being a little stiff and sore I was fine. I spent most of the day cuddling with my precious little baby
All of the damage to the car ended up being right in front of and in back of where Saranita's car seat. God was obviously watching over us!
