Prayer at the Close of the Day

Posted At: 8:43pm by Rev. William M. Cwirla

As the sun sets on this silent Wednesday, there are a few things you can do.  We all like to do things.  You can sign a petition here on behalf of our friends Todd and Jeff.  I'm sure the signatures will mean a lot to them.   It would be great to have that thing go viral.

Our dear brother in the Lord Pr. Wm Weedon seems to be putting together a good old fashioned tea party with the geese over at the international center.  If you live within driving distance, you might want to bring the family and a sign and come on over.

I agree with Pr. Weedon's suggestion that we put a lid on these things now as we enter into the most holy days of the liturgical year leading to the great Paschal Feast.  There are so many gifts to be received on Holy Thursday, Good Friday, the Holy Vigil, and the Feast of the Resurrection.  Now is the time for worship, not fear of men or anxiety. Here is our strength to contend for the faith once delivered to the saints.  Without Christ and His gifts, it would all come to naught.  And in the great Paschal Feast, we are reminded that God trumps evil and works good through the all-reconciling death of His Son.

Why do  the nations rage and the peoples plot in vain?
The kings of the earth set themselves,
and the rulers take counsel together,
against the LORD and against his anointed, saying,
“Let us  burst their bonds apart
and cast away their cords from us.”
He who sits in the heavens laughs;
the Lord holds them in derision.
(Psalm 2)

In these last days of great distress
Grant us, dear Lord, true steadfastness
That we keep pure till life is spent
Your holy Word and Sacrament.

312 and counting.

It takes a day or so for things to really get cranking.

We like the extra posts. It gives Blogosphere a certain folksy character.

Re: Prayer at the Close of the Day

Thanks for making your blog a good resource and reminder for this messy business.

I've tried making my old blog into a bit of a resource too, so if you want to check it out and could help people get that way, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.
