I don't know who Pr. Daniel Skillman is, but he hits another homer over at Cyberstones.  That makes him two for two.  Someone get this guy a blog.  I want to buy him a beer.  First he nails the in Adam / in Christ distinction.  Now he runs the Law / Gospel distinction the same way to preserve one unified, two-edged Word whose end purpose is Life not Death.

Here's a keeper:

I think that we Lutherans are often tempted to take the distinction between Law & Gospel and push it to the point that it is becomes the division of Law & Gospel. We see the Gospel as being opposed to the Law (understood as commands regarding morality and ethics). But then the Gospel becomes distorted as a license to sin, rather than the word of rescue from sin; then the Christian is left wondering how “good works” fit into things. Good works, morality, and ethics among us Lutherans either seem tacked on, or they’re presented as something you can’t possibly do in the first place, or, as is probably most often the case, they are left out altogether. That is unbiblical.

Not to steal this guy's thunder, but we've been strumming this string for years over here.  Most recently here. Juggling paradoxes isn't child's play.  It's always easier and tidier to keep distinctions in their separate categorical boxes, but then you wind up doing "systematic" rather than "biblical" theology.
