M.Z. Hemingway (affectionately known to us as Mollie), has written an article for Modern Reformation entitled "Skepticism, Agnosticism and Atheism - A Brief History of Unbelief." That'll give you something cozy to read by a warm fireplace.
Launching from New Atheism's poster boys Richard Dawkins and Christopher Hitchens (with a cameo appearance by no less than Elton John), Mollie takes us on a cook's tour of divine denial back to the Greeks and on into the Old Testament, finding the essence of atheism in the divorce of natural and revealed knowledge (science vs faith). The French Revolution, English Deism, German atheism, and Marxist communism all come under the scrutiny of M.Z.'s pen.
She concludes: "After the deadly Communist regimes were exposed, atheism took on a lower profile for a few years, but unbelief and rejection of religion have been present for millennia and popular for centuries. Christians who feel besieged by the atheist onslaught in recent years would do well to know their history. Atheists, it seems, are like the poor-they have been and always will be with us."
At least the poor are open to receiving.

This made me think of a random thing I came accross online one day, http://www.expelledthemovie.com/ It addresses some of the same things about atheism, and how they, in some instences, are trying to shut down any thought or idea that could be devine reasonings for explaining things that go on in this world.
